Why I Hate the Dear Leader

I hate him. I seriously do. In my admittedly short life, I've never seen anyone so recklessly endanger the world with his belligerence, his arrogance, and his disgust with multinational diplomacy, especially in the run up to the war in Iraq.

Even more upsetting is the coverage we get in the news about our Dear Leader. Almost daily, we get to hear about the next outrageously bad thing he's done, be it insulting and alienating allies, irritating neighbors, having shady political connections... It's insane! The sheer abount of duplicity, the lying, the self-righteous "we know better" attitude, that insulates the Dear Leader and his cronies should anger every true patriot.

The problem is that the Dear Leader has a lock on the polls, and ends up "winning" his elections, even if numerous observers the world over question the veracity of the results. He's got an enormous cheering section which is pretty much a cult of personality that thinks he can do no wrong. If you dare complain about his leadership, if you can actually call what he does "leadership", you're shouted down by his supporters and called "traitors", "unpatriotic", or worse.

The Dear Leader waves the flag, says he's patriotic, and to distract all the rest of us, he calls our attention to a vague and undefined threat from beyond our borders that seeks to destroy our very way of life. He tries to make sure that we all know that he's the only one who can really protect us, even if that might not be the truth. He and his ilk believe that any lie that's told often enough becomes the brainwashed truth.

What makes the Dear Leader really difficult to live under is that he and his party have control of the legislature. Pretty much anything the Dear Leader wants, no matter how bad the idea looks, no matter how problematic the execution could be, the assembly rubberstamps his plans without giving it a second thought. From some bizarre reason, assemblymen think they owe their success to this fool of a man, and it's hurting our country as a whole.

The Dear Leader's track record isn't particularly great, either. Granted, he may have inherited the circumstances that led to the economic depression, but ever since he came into office, he's continually issued one plan after another to dubious effect. Now that things may actually be looking up, it's not surprising to hear his fanboi crowd worshipping the very ground he walks on because he supposedly did everything right to fix it! Mind you, this is the same crowd that steadfastly claimed that there was no real problem with the economy, that it was just a minor downturn, and the like.

Even worse, it's becoming clear to those who are enemies of the state get sent to horrid prisons, stripped of many of their basic rights, and are treated with humiliating disrespect. Yet the Dear Leader continues on his merry way, pretending that all of this is beneath him, and finding scapegoats to pin the blame on.

Another big problem I have with the Dear Leader is the person that he is. It's a well-known fact that the Dear Leader was a playboy in his youth, pissing away much of it on booze and drugs. It's a well-known fact that he's never actually seen combat or been in a war zone as a soldier. At best, he played one with a borrowed uniform. He always seems to have this smug smile when things go his way--which is often enough. A person of his reputed intelligence, that is to say, a dullard, shouldn't be in a position of authority. He shouldn't be the nominal head of a massive military, he shouldn't be given almost free reign to do whatever he wants to his country... but he is. I have my doubts as to whether a man of his low caliber could have ever actually made it this far had it not been for his father's position and the silver spoon he was raised with.

Then again, I'm not sure he is that dumb, since he does seem to be a shrewd operator, capable of playing his foes like a fiddle.

What's amusing is that early on, it was his siblings who were expected to do the great things. I can understand that--the more photogenic, popular, and probably brighter brother, but the Dear Leader dealt with that competition rather ably. So it was him who gained the mantle of the Great Leader instead.

I'll admit the Great Leader was someone who did rather well for himself. Although he may have made a few mistakes, he did work largely in the best interests of the country. The Gread Leader did rebuild the country's confidence, industry, and economy, something that his predecessors were unable to do, and what's more, the Great Leader was able to triumph over the Evil Empire. Maybe that's why the Cult of the Dear Leader loves the Great Leader so--they're hoping some of the magic from the Great Leader rubbed off on the Dear Leader.

No matter. It's doubtful that he'll be removed from office soon, since he has the backing of what seems like the whole conservative and military establishment, which does bode well for his continued "leadership".

The Cult refuses to see the facts. The Dear Leader is just not good for the country. The nation would do better with someone else at the helm.
